Day 1 in Washington DC

Washington has offered way too many things to see! Most of all, they are free of charges. So happy to be here to visit. All the sites I had been to in three days are all free of charges, some require tickets at the entrance and most do not. DC, you just proved to me there is free lunch on earth! Security inspection are expected at the entrance of every museum, no food allowed. Some permit bottled water, some don't. You always get free refill for water in the museum, so no worries.

We were staying a the hostel near 5th street. We just grabbed a DC street car to Union Station and from Union Station, we took the Circulator bus at $1 per trip to explore around the mall.

Union Station, love the architecture of historic building. This is where you could take the Amtrak and buses. There are many restaurants and eateries at the station. It gets busy during the day and quiet during the night.

The US Capitol

So magnificent! It requires security check point at the visitor center for entrance. No food and drinks are allowed, even bottled water. The location of the visitor center is right in front of the US capitol.

Get a ticket for guided tour at the visitor center, foc. Tour is conducted in English via earphone.

The tour started with a short history of the country in the theater. Very detailed explanaion are given by the officers and questions are welcomed.

Library of Congress
there is a tunnel to the library of congress from the US capitol which saves you time and hassle of passing through the security check again.
