Chinatown San Francisco

I am finally writing my travel journal when I am about to leave this beautiful city. Still amazed by the fact that I could be here and experience everything I could never dream of. Kick start the posts with the travel journey at Chinatown and I promise there are more to come. Planning to write something more relevant to my daily life such as the living expenses in another post so it could be a reference for those who are planning to do Work and Travel in San Francisco.

Never know there is any other place that could get more Chinese than here. We are surprised by the stuffs we could get here. Chinese restaurants, drugstores, raw ingredients and seasonings. It is really a Little China! Everyone speaks Cantonese since most of them are immigrants from Guangdong, China and Hong Kong. We followed the walking trail suggested by National Geography Traveler. Restaurants we had been to are recommended by Yelp and Tripadvisor.

Souvenirs and gifts at Chinatown

You can walk Jackson Street to get a glance of the everyday life of the people here. It is where people run groceries and spend their day in the coffee house. You get to see old folks sipping coffee and chitchatting in the chinese style coffee shop.

Old St Mary's church from St Mary Square

Sun Yat Sen by Beniamino Bufano. Sun raised funds and started a newspaper in San Francisco. He is also the first president of the new republic.

St Mary Church was the first and largest cathedral in California in 1854.

Eats at Chinatown

1. Great Eastern Chinese Restaurant.
Obama had been here so why not since it is moderately priced and the food is so good.

2. House of Nanking

There is normally a queue at dinner hours. The food is good and it is fairly priced.

3. Z & Y restaurant.

They serve good SiChuan dishes but this places is more pricey when compared to the previous two restaurants I went.

I tried 2 bakeries as suggested by my local friend, PL.

1. Wong Lee Bakery
Jackson Street, 7am- 7pm.

2. Good Mong Kok Bakery
Stockton Street, 7am - 6pm
